Minutes of October 3, 2022 Meeting of the 

Guemes Island Planning Advisory Committee

 

Hal Rooks opened the meeting at 6:35pm.  Present were board members Hal Rooks, Patty Rose, Michael Brown, Kathy Malley, Jep Burdock, Allen Bush, Steve Orsini and board emeritus Gary Curtis.  Also present was Gabe Murphy.

 

Draft minutes from September meeting were adopted.

 

Draft agenda was approved.

 

Treasurer’s report – Checking account balance is $12,929.35.  Roz Glasser bequest balance is $9,162.10.

Updates/New Business

 

Election Update – The date for the annual meeting is November 6, 2-4:00pm at the Community Hall.  At the end of the meeting, the only nomination received was Gabe Murphy to fill Hal Rooks position.  Per GIPAC’s bylaws, the open season for nominations to the board closed at the end of this meeting.  Formal election will occur at the Annual Meeting.

 

USGS Update – USGS has finished its fieldwork for the aquifer recharge study and is now in the analysis portion of their work.  The USGS will give a Zoom update on their work at the Annual Meeting. 

 

Zoning Overlay – There was a discussion about GIPAC’s response to the County’s proposed code amendment that would change the Guemes Island zoning overlay (building envelope).  This proposed code amendment is scheduled to be discussed at the October meeting of the Planning Commission.  It was agreed that Michael Brown will craft a letter outlining GIPAC’s position to be mailed to the Planning Commission and to the BoCC.

 

Hal Rooks adjourned the meeting at 8:15pm.
