GIPAC: Minutes for Aug 1, 2022 Meeting
August 1, 2022 Meeting of the
Guemes Island Planning Advisory Committee
Hal Rooks opened the meeting at the Guemes Island Church at 6:35pm. Present were board members Hal Rooks, Michael Brown, Patty Rose, Kathy Malley, Steve Orsini, Jep Burdock and Allen Bush. Also present were Michael Gray and Gary Curtis.
Draft minutes were approved.
Draft agenda was approved.
Treasurer’s report – Checking account $13,609.35. Roz Glasser bequest $9,162.10. Thanks to Jep Burdock and Hal Rooks for generous donations in July.

Updates/New Business
Hal led a discussion re: board nominations for open seats at our Annual Meeting in November (date to be established). Nominations open for the board at our meeting in September, nominations taken from the floor in October, slate then voted on during the November annual meeting. People interested in joining GIPAC should let their interest be known to any one of the board members.
USGS study – Hal asked about the status of Class A well systems giving data to the USGS team. It looks like the study will commence some time in September.
There will be a rainwater catchment tour on Sept 17, 2022. So far, the Orsini, Brown and Lewis systems will be on the tour. More info to follow.
Patty Rose asked the board for input concerning trail improvements at the Peach Preserve to make it ADA compliant. The board unanimously voted to encourage that development.
Short Term Rentals – It was agreed by the board to shelve discussions about the issue until more info from the county becomes available.
Hal Rooks adjourned the meeting at 8:20pm.
