Minutes for the November 5, 2018 Meeting

Of the Guemes Island Planning Advisory Committee


Meeting was called to order at 6:35pm.  Present were board members Hal Rooks, Michael Brown, Steve Orsini, Patty Rose, Edith Walden, Nancy Fox and Allen Bush, as well as Gary Curtis, board emeritus.  Also present were Phyllis Bravinder, Marianne Kooiman, Barb Ohms, and Dan Horneman.

The draft agenda was approved.

The minutes from the October meeting were approved.

The treasurer reported $2,808.46 in the checking account and $10,523.02 in the Roz Glasser fund.  Invoices for $223.30 for the Peach Preserve shoreline preservation project were approved.

Public Comment – Barb Ohms let the committee know that will be an African drumming concert at the hall on Saturday afternoon from 3:00pm until 7: pm.

New Business - The annual meeting planning was discussed.  There was a motion to close nominations for the upcoming election of new board members, in line with our Bylaws.  It was seconded and approved.  Steve Orsini will contact the featured speakers at USGS to determine if they will need any AV help prior to the meeting.


There was an update on the GIPAC presentation to the Skagit Board of Commissioners on our proposed 2019 code amendments concerning rainwater catchment and well drilling.  It was determined that GIPAC will continue to engage the county moving forward on these amendments.

A motion was made and seconded to provide GICCA with the names and emails of the board members to post on their website.  It was approved 5-2.

Patty Rose gave the board an update on the Peach Preserve shoreline preservation project.  Some plants have already been planted and a number of potted plants are awaiting another planting party.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25pm.
